There’s no better place to learn to dive than in the crystal clear waters of the Maldives. Gain an internationally recognised scuba diving certification in warm water with tropical fish swimming around you, the door to many more amazing underwater adventures will be well and truly opened. We offer the PADI Scuba Diver and PADI Open Water courses, both with the option of completing the theory part at home – leaving the best part to Best Dives – the fun underwater stuff!
If you’d like to complete a course and gain a certification but don’t want to spend your time on holiday studying in a classroom, we’ve got the perfect solution. The PADI eLearning system allows you to complete the theory part of your course at home, in your own time, leaving just the dives to complete with us here on Vittaveli.
Entry Level
PADI Scuba Diver is the perfect introduction to scuba diving and on completion you will be the holder of an internationally recognised PADI diving certificate. On completion of the course, you’ll be qualified to scuba dive accompanied by a diving professional to the maximum depth of 12m/40ft. You learn all the basics of scuba diving, buoyancy skills including ascents and descents, buddy diving techniques, preventing common problems underwater, an introduction to boat diving and more. Certification is achieved through a combination of practical skill assessments and knowledge review quizzes. It covers three of the five knowledge development sections of the PADI Open Water Course plus the first three of five confined water sessions and the first two of four open water training dives. So if you choose to progress to an Open Water Diver course at a later date, your Scuba Diver experience can be credited towards it. This course can be completed within just one and a half days.
Entry Level
PADI’s most popular course trains millions of people aged ten and over around the world every year to become certified Open Water Divers. You begin by getting to grips with basic scuba skills, learning about the equipment (including dive computers) and safety skills and progress to doing five confined water dives and four open water dives, all under the supervision of our staff. Assessment is through a combination of practical tests and Knowledge Review quizzes. It takes an average of three to five days to complete the training and become certified. If you’ve already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diver session or have a PADI Scuba Diver certificate it may be credited towards your Open Water Diver course.
